The following Food Preservation Programming will be offerd this summer by Haywood Cooperative Extension: Food Preservation 101 -Learn research based information for preserving food safely.  Get judging requirements for county and state fair home canned food entries.  Free Thursday, June 5th  10:30am -12pm  &  5:30pm -7pm Location: Haywood Extension Center Jams & Jellies - This hands on class will work with reduced sugar recipes. Friday, July 11th 9:00-1:00pm  $10.00 Location: Haywood Extension Center Pressure Canning - This class will cover the basics of how to safely use a pressure canner for low acid foods.  Fee $10.00 Tuesday, July 8th  5:30pm - 8:30pm Location: Pigeon Community Multicultural Development Center, 450 Pigeon St., Waynesville, NC  28786   Wednesday, July 9th  9am -1pm   Location: Haywood Extension Center Pickling - This hands-on class will cover the basics of how to safely can pickled products.  Fee $10.00 Tuesday, July 22nd  5:30pm - 8:30pm  & Wednesday, July 23rd  9am -1pm   Location: Haywood Extension Center Tomato Canning - Water Bath Method -This hands-on class will cover the basics to safely can tomato products.  Fee $10.00 Tuesday, August 12th  9am -1pm Location: Haywood Senior Resource Center, 81 Elmwood Way, Waynesville, NC  28786 Fruit Canning - Water Bath Method -This hands-on class will cover the basics to safely can fruit products.  Fee $10.00 Thusday, August 14th  5:30-8:30pm  Location: Haywood Senior Resource Center, 81 Elmwood Way, Waynesville, NC  28786 The classes will be taught by Julie Sawyer, Extension Agent, Family & Consumer Sciences.  For more information  or to register call (828)456-3575 or email julie_sawyer@ncsu.edu.
