Chatham County Cooperative Extension’s Pollinator Paradise Demonstration Garden at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro was recognized as one of Six Gardens to Improve your Mood by the News & Observer!

Read the N&O article here.

The demonstration garden was created in 2008 by Chatham County Cooperative Extension Agriculture Agent Debbie Roos and was designed to provide forage habitat for pollinators such as honey bees, native bees, butterflies, flower flies, hummingbirds, beetles, and other beneficial insects. The garden is maintained by Roos and a small group of volunteers.

Over 145 different perennial species, 85% of them native to the piedmont of North Carolina, delight visitors and provide season-long forage for pollinators. Hundreds of visitors tour the gardens each year. Tours are conducted monthly for the general public and upon appointment for special groups (garden clubs, beekeeping clubs, Master Gardener Volunteers, etc.).

The garden has its own website with lots of resources:
