Classes will be taught August 3, 2023 to renew private pesticide applicators license (V training) and commercial applicators can attend the X training for 2 hours credit. Classes will be taught at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Meeting Room at 699 Connahetta Street in Murphy, NC August 3, 2023. The V training will be from 5–7 p.m. and X training will be from 7–9 p.m. The X training will also provide 2 credit hours for commercial pesticide license with A,B,G,H,I,K,L,M,N,O,T, D and X designations. If you have a commercial license and not a private pesticide designation then you only need to attend the training beginning at 7 p.m. for the two hours of credit. Registration is required through Eventbrite.  Seating is limited to 35 participants and registration will end 1 day prior to the class.

Private applicators (V  Training from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.)- License holders must re-certify every three years with 4 hours of continuing education credits. Two-hour pesticide safety classes (category “V” training) and at least 2 hours of specialized training (category “X” training)  Specialized training credits may be earned by attending educational meetings approved for credit by N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and conducted by N.C. Cooperative Extension, commodity groups, private industry, or other associations. Private soil fumigation requires 1 credit in a fumigation-specific topic during the three-year recertification period.

Commercial Applicators  (X Training from 7-9 p.m.) Training is open to anyone with a commercial license and can receive 2 hours credit in A,B,D,G,H,I,K,L,M,N,O,T, and X designations.

If you do not attain the training by the deadline the other options are for Private Pesticide Applicators are:

Pay for and pass the Private Applicator Exam (and the Private Soil Fumigation Exam, if applicable) again with a minimum score of 70 percent.

Recertification through earning continuing education credits must be completed by September 30 of the year in which certification expires. Following completion of recertification requirements, private pesticide applicators will receive a Certification Renewal Application from NCDA&CS. This form must be signed and returned to the NCDA&CS with a $10 renewal fee payable by check or money order (private soil fumigation is an additional $10 fee). Once the application and fee are processed, certification will be renewed for three years, and a new certification card will be mailed to the applicator.
