The WNC Beef Cattle Commission of WNC Communities established the Gary
Stamey Jr. Beef Scholarship in 2014 to honor the memory of Gary Stamey.
Selection of recipients for the Gary Stamey Jr. Beef Scholarship is conducted
annually according to certain eligibility guidelines and judging criteria.

High school seniors or students in any year of college who have participated in three junior beef shows and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 are eligible.

The $500 scholarship winner is announced at the beginning of the Junior Beef Show at the NC Mountain State Fair.

Applications and supporting materials must be received at WNC Communities by Monday, June 3, 2024 for the Committee’s consideration.

Application must be complete with the following items to be considered:
● Typed, completed application form
● Transcripts
● Essay
● Signature and date on final page of application
