Fall Lambing and Kidding School

Dr. Andrew Weaver, Small Ruminant Extension Specialist will be hosting a lambing and kidding school this fall at the Upper Mountain Research Station in Laurel Springs, NC. The school will take place September 14th  from 9am - 5pm. Space is limited to 25 participants to ensure hands-on learning opportunities. Lunch will be provided and all attendees will receive a lambing/kidding resource notebook. Register online via Eventbrite!

Saturday, September 14

Morning Session


  • 8:30-9:00 am: Welcome
  • 9 am: Equipment, Infrastructure, and Records
  • 10 am: Nutrition pre- and post-lambing/kidding
  • 11 am: Disease Prevention
  • 12 pm: Lunch (Provided)

Afternoon Session


  • 1 pm: Delivery and Dystocia
  • 2 pm: Processing
  • 3 pm: Dealing with Orphans
  • 4 pm: Troubleshooting Lambing and Kidding Season
  • 5 pm: Evaluations

Note: Only sheep will be used for this school although all concepts will be relevant to goats.
