Talking About Natural Disasters

While we hope for a few mildly damp days and no major storms, our area is no stranger to natural disasters.  Sometimes it can be difficult for our kids to understand and process what's going on no matter how big or small our storms are.  Below you'll find a list of ways to talk to your kids about natural disasters from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  There's also a link to a FEMA article with many great resources on helping out children cope with disaster. We all want our kids to feel safe and secure even when the world may seem a little scary.
