Produce Safety Workshop

This hands on workshop will cover the basics of produce food safety for small and medium scale farms. We will provide training for anyone who grows, harvests and packs fresh produce. We will focus on the following topics:
- Food safety regulations that apply to produce farms
- Employee health and hygiene practices: resources to train workers, volunteers and practical ways to implement practices.
- Safe use, storage and handling of manures, compost and other soil amendments.
- Water use at the farm.
- Considerations when livestock and poultry are raised near produce fields.
- Implementing sanitary practices during harvest, packing, cooling and cool storage of fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Basics of implementing a cleaning and sanitation program at your farm.
