N.C. Cooperative Extension in Haywood County is offering a free, outdoor, in-person grilling class on June 22, 2021. Julie Sawyer, Family & Consumer Science Extension Agent with Haywood Extension will be collaborating with Kathy Olsen, Adult Services Librarian with the Haywood County Public Library to present the class. Participants will learn about outdoor grilling food safety recommendations, and how to prepare skewers, meat, and vegetables for kabobs so that they cook evenly. Participants will also learn how to safely light and use charcoal and gas grills. Kathy Olsen will demonstrate three sauces that can be served alongside of the kabobs; Raita (a cucumber, yogurt sauce), Romesco ( a tomato-based sauce), and a green sauce (much like chimichurri, made with fresh herbs. Attendance is limited.*Current COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
