Should I have a product ready to sell to buyers?

Yes! This is not an event for beginning farmers or producers. Buyers want to work with folks who have a track record. Although this event is in the summer be ready to talk about what you have year-round.

How do I know how much they will pay for my products?

Ask them. We are encouraging buyers to be transparent about their pricing to help you determine your market.

Should I bring my products?

YES if you want to share your samples that is great.

What will they want to know?

Buyers want to know about volume and frequency (12 weeks, # lbs). Can you deliver? Do you have cold storage or do you deliver products ‘hot’ from the field? Do you have plans to expand? What are you excited about adding to your farm?
Do you have liability insurance? How much?
Are you GAP certified? Organic? This may or may not be required.

Can I ask them what they want to buy?

YES! Some chefs or buyers may be looking for a specific cut of meat or a variety of greens or beans or beets or XXX. You may decide to try some of these crops and test the market.

How long do I have to talk to the buyers?

FIVE minutes, so be ready! Ideally, you make a connection that can be followed up on for a longer meeting. Maybe invite them to your farm if that feels good!
