N.C. Cooperative Extension, Empowering Mountain Food Systems, and the Small Business Center at Haywood Community College are hosting an Agritourism Farm Tour of Haywood County during the summer of 2024.

These tours are meant for existing farmers and entrepreneurs wishing to add agritourism operations to their current businesses. The tours are free and seek to showcase what the diversity of agritourism can look like for our local farms!

Registration is online through the links below. There is limited capacity for attendees, so make sure to register early!

All sessions will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. ***August 27th will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to accommodate the two stops that evening.***

Tuesday, August 6th Smoky Mountain Mangalitsa Learn how this unique pork production farm pivoted during Covid to add a unique glamping and camping operation on the Pigeon River. In 2021 they diversified into agritourism by offering primitive camping and farm tours. Pork sales soared along with a consistent stream of revenue. Tuesday, August 13th Sustainabillies/Two Trees Farm This vibrant farm grows organic produce and herbs and is also home to a forge and classroom space. Tuesday, August 20th KT’s Orchard & Apiary KT and her family own a thriving orchard and honey business. The pick-your-own berry and apple operations add significant revenue along with KT’s farm store. Come with closed toe shoes and be ready to have a romp and shop!

Tuesday, August 27th Jehovah Raah Farm – First Stop This livestock farm offers a unique experience for Airbnb customers. Visitors stay in an authentic mountain cabin complete with a working loom for clients to make their own fiber rug! Tuesday, August 27th Ferguson’s Supply & Glamping – Second Stop Ferguson’s Supply is adding glamping and an event venue to this 100-year thriving cattle farm. Not only that, but they are also upgrading menu offerings and adding live music. Our last stop on this tour will include meal options and a historic tale of a farm transition adding agritourism to the new generation of farmers and shopkeepers.
