Collapse ▲It’s finally spring time! The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and the chicks are hatching! Take advantage of the Haywood County Youth Chick Project! This is a great way for youth to get involved in caring for and showing livestock, but you don’t have a lot of space to raise larger animals. Youth participants (ages 5-18 as of January 1, 2024) will learn the ins and outs of raising, caring and showing chickens. All participants will show their chickens in the Haywood County Fair in September 2024.
Use this link to register for this opportunity!
Requirements
Along with registration and payment youth and their parent/guardian will need to sign and return the Haywood County 4-H Youth Chick Contract (to be distributed at a later time) as well as register in 4-H Online. Here is the link for 4-H Online. Also youth must participate in scheduled Youth Chick Project check-ins. Dates and agenda for these check-ins will be provided later based on interest and availability, but will focus around all that you need to know to raise, care for and show chickens. Lastly all participants will be expected to participate in the 2024 Haywood County Fair.
