N.C. Cooperative Extension’sTraining Program for Retail Food Protection Manager Certification
Julie Sawyer, Family &Consumer Science Extension Agent in Haywood County offers Safe Plates for Food Managers. This program prepares all those who work in the food service industry and particularly those seeking food protection manager certification for the American National Standards Institution approved Food Protection Manager Certification.
Managers successfully completing the National Registry of Food Safety Professional's Food Manager Exam meet the FDAFood Code 2017 requirement for a Certified Food Protection Manager. This certificate not only meets the same requirement in North Carolina but it is also good throughout the United States for five years.
Managers trained in SafePlates for Food Managers are equipped to create a work environment that minimizes food safety risks in their restaurants, cafeterias, and grocery stores through best practices, open communication, and thoughtful practice.
SafePlates is taught through case studies, storytelling, activities, and discussion. This class is interactive and encourages participants to engage with the material.
The March 14 -16, 2022 class schedule is as follows:
Monday 03/14/2022 9am -5pm with a one-hour lunch break.Tuesday 03/15/2022 1pm-5pm
Wednesday 03/16/2022 9am-11:00am, 30 minute lunch,11:30-2pm – paperwork & exam
- Cost - $125.00 - includes the book, slide notes, 2 practice tests, one practice exam and the National Registry of Food Safety Professional's Food Protection Manager exam.
